The Beauty of Meemure

Not much is known but it is a popular place for relaxation in the urban environment. Meemure is a village with a population of about 400. It is located near the border between Kandy District and Mathale District in the Knuckles Mountain Range. Meemure is one of the most remote villages in Sri Lanka with the only access via a 14 km trail from the town of Loolwatte.

Residents of the village depend on several staple crops including pepper, cardamom, paddy and ginger. Many endemic animals can be seen in this country.  The film, which is particularly well-received, has been created here. It is our duty to protect this village which is a haven for tourists from home and abroad.
