Nine arch bridge

This is a place where everyone loves to take pictures. The Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the 'Bridge in the Sky' was constructed by connecting two bog mountains when constructing the Badulla – Colombo railway.

The surrounding area has seen a steady increase in tourism due to the bridge's architectural ingenuity and the profuse greenery in the nearby hillsides. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The construction of the bridge is generally attributed to a local Ceylonese builder, P. K. Appuhami , in consultation with British engineers. This is a great creation that can still be seen in Sri Lanka today.
